(ABC) – Bonnie Tyler “remains seriously ill but stable” in a Portuguese hospital, according to a new statement from the singer’s family on Tuesday.
Despite her current condition, “her Doctors are still positive that she will make a full recovery,” according to the statement. As part of the update, the family said they hoped to clarify “many lurid and untrue rumors.”
The family also asked for privacy.
Tyler was put in a medically induced coma as she recovered from emergency intestinal surgery last week. A rep for the singer confirmed to ABC News in a statement on May 7.
“Bonnie has been put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery,” her rep said in a statement.
On Wednesday, a post on the “Total Eclipse of the Heart” singer’s website revealed that she has been admitted to a hospital in Faro, Portugal, for emergency intestinal surgery. The statement said that the singer has a home there.
They said, “The surgery went well and she is now recuperating.”
“We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery,” the statement added.
As of now, Tyler’s website still lists upcoming tour dates starting with May 30, rather than a previously scheduled May 22 date, which no longer appears.
